No, the test drive was done with safesky, skydemon and Aerotracker.
I am experiencing the same issue.
I am running SkyDemon on a Galaxy Tab and SafeSky on an iPhone 15 Pro. Of course everything updated to latest SW versions.
Difficult to say exactly when it started - I regularly experienced dropouts in connection, but now (perhaps for last 4-6 months), it is almost certain that after ca. 5 minutes of flight the connection will be lost and I have to move to the tabletās location services. This renders SafeSky and my subscription quite useless⦠![]()
By the way, I am trying to recreate this on the ground right now without success, I have āstartedā a flight in SkyDemon 15 minutes ago, taken off in SafeSky and everything works as it should.
I have selected the option to share data with SafeSky, so please please can I ask SafeSky to fix this (if it is a general issue), or help me (if it is just me).
When it works - this product is great.
Iāve given up on using both Safesky and Skydemon apps on a single iPad and now only use Android. Try reproducing it on the ground while taking a drive. In a 30-minute drive, I lost connection 7 or 8 times. Mysteries!
Two attempts to recreate on the ground failed (ie. everything worked):
- one with SD on the Galaxy Tab, and SafeSky on the iPhone
- one with both SD and SS on the iPhone
Does SafeSky not provide tech support? This is disappointing especially when paying for the premium subscription and failing to get exactly the feature Iām paying for ! ![]()
Unfortunately, I have to agree with you. The support leaves a lot to be desired, even though they tried to fix the problem, but to no avail. I solved the problem by switching from iOS to Android.
@Tristan can you help me with this, please?
I am sharing logs with you. Last two attempts on the ground succeed (i.e. device connection was lost after 5-10 minutes). There seem to be intermittent dropouts i.e. the connection lost message comes up, but SkyDemon (on Galaxy Tab A) then continues to work fine as before. However, when actually flying the situation is much worse - the connection drops after 10 minutes or so and is not reestablished.
Happy to walk together through diagnostics to troubleshoot this.
I think the SafeSky technical team are working on a new release now to address some of these issues. I think testing is underway, but I donāt know when the new version will be complete for general deployment.
Hello Adam,
One important diagnostic question first: when SkyDemon loses the connection to SafeSky, and you switch back to the SafeSky app, do you see the splash screen and disclaimer again?
If yes, this would indicate that Android actually killed the SafeSky app while it was running in the background. In that case, I would first recommend double-checking the Android battery management settings to ensure SafeSky is fully excluded from any background optimisation:
If you are able to reliably reproduce the issue on the ground (definitely the safer option
), that would help a lot for diagnostics, especially to better understand whether we are dealing with Android background management or WiFi/network routing instability.
Fly Safe,
Tristan
Hi Tristan
Many thanks for getting in touch and being open to help, thatās really appreciated.
For clarity:
- SafeSky is being run on my iPhone 15 Pro
- SkyDemon is on my Galaxy Tab A
SafeSky does not crash at all - I donāt think I can ever remember it crashing. To me it seems definitely more a question of the WiFi/personal hotspot/GDL90 connection stability.
Just let me know what you need from me.
Best wishes and thanks again
Adam
