Helicopter not visible

why is this helicopter not visible in Safesky?

I think it is Mode S only, according to ADS-B Exchange. So not transmitting any position information.

Also, I don’t believe that SafeSky takes data from the Flight Radar 24 network. It uses feeds from ADS-B Exchange and ADS-B.fi networks. For Mode S aircraft to be detected it requires MLAT technology (multiple receivers). It is likely that the helicopter was not in range of the 3 or 4 receivers required to determine its position.

Often, low flyving aircraft are not visible in Flight Radar 24 in this area. But the helicopter was. The challenge is that there is still non one single plattform showing all traffic.

FR24 tracking data is manipulated to give a better (general) user experience. Using FR24, I have monitored airliners land and continue into the sea after landing….! This is because FR24 uses predictive algorithms to modify aircraft positions. The data feeds that SafeSky use send raw, unmodified, data to SafeSky servers. This allows for the most accurate aircraft positions to be sent to the SafeSky community. The helicopter you mentioned was only transmitting Mode S, so no aircraft transmitted position information was available. The next best determination of position requires MLAT technology. Due to the local terrain this looks like it wasn’t possible. However, the new SafeSky Aero Tracker does have a Mode S detection capability. No accurate position info is available, but pilots will get warnings of other aircraft that may pose a collision risk in their immediate vicinity.

The very best technical solution would be for the helicopter to be equipped with ADS-B OUT…

Thanks @tnowak , I do confirm your explainations. Thanks for that
