App stops working when flying with failover device

Hello dear community,

yesterday I have been the safety pilot and had the time to investigate a strange behaviour in the app, that I stumbled upon for a few time now.

I have a paid SafeSky account.

I fly with two devices, an iPad mini and an Android phone. iPad uses Telefonica o2, Android uses Telekom.

When I fly, I alway use both devices. If there is some problems with LTE or 5G or there is some problem with the heat of the devices, I always have a second device as failsafe.

What happened yesterday, was that my iPad stopped receiving data. I did not understand that, until I landed. But then my iPad showed me a message, that SafeSky determined two devices, that use the same account. Of course I did that, I sat in 1 airplane and I used 2 devices, that shared my position for exactly the same one registration.

When I was reading this message, and realized, that SafeSky stopped working because of this fact, I decided, that I had to urgently open a case in your support forum.

Please please include functionality, that this behaviour does not appear again. I mean think about the fact: I pay for your subscription, my flight should become safer. Right now, because I pay, my flight became less secure, because one device stopped working mid flight!

Hello,

Thanks for your message!

We hadn’t anticipated that a pilot might use multiple instances of the SafeSky app simultaneously in the same aircraft.

We’re going to revise the current security check to allow SafeSky to function properly when used in close proximity on the same device or aircraft.

Thanks again for the valuable feedback!

Tristan

I am very happy, that you revise this and that staying Premium in this great app will be possible and the right choice

Thanks again
