Hello SafeSky-Team
I have currently a SafeSky premium subscr. Now I have purchased the new AeroTracker. I’ve read that for CH it needs a “Connect Europe +” subscription . . . “coming soon”. Questions:
By when approx. will that “soon” be?
How much will that subscription ca. cost?
What exactelly will not yet work, if I already now subscribe to “Connect Europe”?
If I do so, can I later change to 'Connect Europe +"?
The mobile phone network data connection in the Aerotracker will not work in Switzerland currently, because their data provider does not have included roaming for Switzerland. I got that information from avionix at aero.
I do not know what the effect of this is since I don‘t have an aerotracker.
Your Aero Tracker will still work and receive ADS-B Out transmissions from aircraft. However, until you get a working LTE data connection, you won’t receive other types of transmissions (Mode S/MLAT, OGN etc.).
Thank you tnowak and Czf for youe replies.
Btw. There are two different antennas provided with the AeroTracker, however, so far I could not figure out, which one to use what for. Could not find any documentation. Does somebody know?
I think you need to contact avionix for advice. Maybe the shorter antenna has similar performance but better for some installations where longer antenna may not fit
I was about to contact avionix, but by coincidence, yesterday they sent me an email with a usermanual. There, they state “the antenna must be oriented upwards”. A foldable antenna bended upwards should be used in case the tracker gets mounted horizontally. That seems to be the explanation. no other technical reason.
